Functional Labs & Supplements
Bio-individuality and understanding that what works for one person may not work for another. I do not treat or diagnose, but use these assessment tools + nutrition + supplements and lifestyle changes to help reduce toxin load and increase nutrient bioavailability. This will bring the body back to balance and restore homeostasis in the body. The goal is to overcome chronic illness, restore vitality and increase healthspan. I do not order labs for the general public. You must be a client.
Blood can be seen as the window into the body.
There are two main types of ranges in the field of blood chemistry.
A pathological range and a functional range. The pathological range is used to diagnose disease. The sicker the population gets the wider the lab reference ranges become. Most health care providers believe that care should only be provided when disease is present. If pathology or disease is not present according to the labs, the person is considered “healthy” and labs are considered ‘normal.” This is why a lot of people are told their blood work is normal but they still feel terrible.
The functional range is much more narrow and it is used to assess risk BEFORE a disease develops. Imbalances and deficiencies tell a lot about the health of the WHOLE BODY in a preventative way.
Example markers:
Full thyroid panel including antibodies (TSH, T3, T4, T3 uptake, Reverse T3, FTI)
Full iron panel (TIBC, UIBC, IRON, FERRITIN)
Immune system
Liver (AST, ALT, ALK PHOS, GGT, LDH)
Lipid Panel
Fasted glucose and insulin
Inflammation markers (HsCRP, Homocysteine, ESR)
Uric acid
Vitamin D
Electrolytes
Urinalysis
Detect immune reaction to key pathogens that may lead to multiple autoimmune reactivities.
Determine the role of pathogens in cases of ‘unexplained’ autoimmune reactivities.
Recommended for patients who:
Present with chronic conditions such as gastrointestinal distress, fatigue, body aches or unexplained and general inflammation, including neuroinflammation.
May have been exposed to bacteria, viruses, parasites, molds, and spirochetes associated with multiple autoimmunities.
Have not fully responded to clinical interventions, such as detoxification and dietary modifications.
Efficient digestion is key to healing the body. You are what you digest and ABSORB.
Without the integrity of the digestive system, the body cannot support the other foundations of health.
A GI MAP stool test looks all aspects of your digestion
•how well you are breaking down your foods
•pancreatic function (how well you break down protein, carbs, fats)
•gallbladder function (how well you break down fat)
•inflammation marker
•immune function (80% of the immune system is in the gut)
•Pathogens (bacteria, HPylori, viruses, yeast, Candida, parasites, bacterial overgrowth)
•If you are making gluten antibodies in the gut
•Efficiency of detoxing hormones (estrogen) and environmental toxins, plus so much more
Most people don’t realize the impact the health of the gut has on the body and it shows differently in everyone (digestive issues, weight loss resistance, joint pain, bloat, constipation, acne, hormonal imbalances, migraines, anxiety, mood).
Things like antibiotics, poor diet, alcohol, stress, toxins, mold, pesticides can all take a toll on the gut.
The MycoTOX Profile is a comprehensive mycotoxin test. It uses advanced mass spectrometry to screen for eleven different mycotoxins, from 40 species of mold, in one urine sample.
This test measures how strongly your immune system reacts to 140 different foods and 30 different chemicals. This is the one and only food sensitivity test I have found trustful. Removing sensitivities is an essential step in healing your gut and reversing possible autoimmunity as reducing the cause of inflammation allows your gut lining to heal.
